A review sheet for the final exam has been posted here.  Remember, we changed the syllabus so that the final is NOT cumulative.  I believe that the test is on Wednesday at 10.

For Monday, I want you to read up to page 46 in Volume 1 of the TOGA-COARE Atlases.  Forty-six pages!!! Yes, but it is mostly figures.  (The atlases are also available on reserve with the secretary in the Front Office.)

Readings for Monday, September 14   posted 9/2/09

Here are the readings that you should complete by Friday, September 11:

  • Parker et al.:  This is an interesting paper about the sorry state of the weather balloon network in tropical Africa.  Here is the paper without any markings on it, and here is the same thing after I marked it up.  To provide you with some guidance about how to read a journal article, I've posted this handout.
  • Also read Chapter 3 of McGregor and Nieuwolt.  If you are struggling with this reading, try Chapter 2 of the Buckle textbook (on reserve with our administrative assistant.)

No Class on Monday or Wednesday!  posted 9/1/09

There is no class on Monday, September 7 due to the observance of Labor Day.  In addition, this class is canceled on Wednesday, September 9 in accordance with the Creighton College of Arts and Sciences' policy of not holding classes during the celebration of the Mass of the Holy Spirit.

Welcome to ATS 553 (Tropical Meteorology) for the Fall 2009 semester.  This semester we will be using the website a little differently--most of the resources that you will need will be available via this front page.  Check here often for updates!
